About This Course

In this project-based course, students learn how to produce well-crafted designs, become more effective engineers, and communicate with strong emotional and intellectual impact. The course enables students to understand, contextualize, and analyze engineering designs and systems. By learning the method of design thinking, students develop more effective problem-solving skills applicable across a wide range of domains.

Class sessions teach a tested, iterative design process along with creative analytical techniques. Guest speakers from various disciplines share different perspectives on design thinking. This course enhances students’ abilities to conceptualize, organize, lead, implement, and evaluate projects within engineering disciplines. In addition, students acquire the skills necessary to deliver compelling, in-person presentations.
